It might seem that Rome is in a golden age of Airbnb rentals, with a new wave of high-end, super-resort properties sprouting up across the city.
But a closer look at the real estate market, and the current state of the market, shows that it isn’t that simple.
The most expensive Airbnb villa in the city is located at the Villa della Tria, a luxury villa located in the Veneto suburb of Cagliari, and is currently listed for €2.5m.
The property was built in the 1950s and is listed on Airbnb for €1.7m.
It is one of three luxury villas that are currently being rented for €10,000 per night.
The other two are listed for a whopping €12,000 each.
The third villa is for €20,000.
The villas have been listed for their incredible views and are well-known for their proximity to the famous Colosseum and the Palazzo di Santa Maria.
However, the owners have reportedly decided to stop renting them after the recent spate of Airbnb incidents in the Italian capital.
The owners of the villas claim that the recent incidents have caused them to shut down the villa.
In a statement, Airbnb said:The company added that the villes are currently in the process of being removed from the listings and the villaplexes are not currently being offered for rent.
It added:Airbnb has removed several of our listings from its platform and removed some of our most popular properties.
Airbnb has made this difficult for many of our properties owners who have been in the rental business for decades and for many other owners who cannot afford to rent these properties for the foreseeable future.
